A great future awaits the residents of Pampanga, especially those who live nearby Clark. The making of the New Clark City is on the roll. With the initiative of the current administration, the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) opted for the transformation of Clark as the “city of the future” through the Build Build Build program.

Surbana Jurong, Singapore’s biggest engineering firm, has set its eyes on the development of New Clark City. A leading expert in urban infrastructure development, the giant firm foresees a 9,450-hectare metropolis with massive green open spaces brimming with bike lanes and high-speed Internet connection.

CEO Wong Heang Fine told CNBC, “I think you will probably be seeing the next generation of city that is coming up. A lot of people are asking what the city of the future is like. In New Clark City, we are putting on a type of digital network. It’s going to be smart, as well as sustainable.”

Fine also said the New Clark City will be a unique one that will be a showcase for the Philippines. The BCDA, along with Japan Overseas Infrastructure Investment Cooperation for Transport and Urban Development (JOIN) and Surbana Jurong, signed a Memorandum of Cooperation.

The Memorandum presents Surbana Jurong as the BCDA’s development management partner for New Clark City’s full implementation. The initial goal for the city is to decongest Metro Manila, but now, it could be the next premier economic hub in Asia.

“A whole new industry” of technology companies may be lured into reserving a spot in New Clark City, Wong expects.  Relative to this, BCDA President and CEO envisions New Clark City as a future-proof metropolis.

It will be the first smart, green, and resilient city in the country. Upon its completion, the Philippines will have a buzzing smart and green city that harmoniously combines nature, lifestyle, business, education, and industries all in one place.
